  Engineering Technician

Functional Responsibilities: (one or more of the following)
  • Applies engineering techniques, principles, and precedents in support of logistics engineers or logisticians to develop, design, modify, install, test, evaluate, or to operate electronic, avionic, mechanical, communications, stores, armament/ordnance, or related data processing systems for military aircraft/weapon systems and/or associated support equipment or facilities.
  • Maintains, repairs, inspects, troubleshoots, or programs systems equipment or components in support of logistics engineers or logisticians.
  • Reviews, analyzes, develops, prepares, or applies engineering, technical, or maintenance specifications, policies, standards, or procedures in support of logistics engineers or logisticians.
  • Organizes, analyzes, and prepares reports and evaluations of systems equipment or components in support of logistics engineers or logisticians.
  • Compiles, processes, reduces, and or analyzes test data and results in support of logistics engineers or logisticians.
  • Requires application of a practical knowledge of (1) the methods and techniques of engineering or architecture; and (2) the construction application properties, operations and limitations of engineering systems, processes, structures, machinery, devices, and materials in support of logistics engineers or logisticians.
  • Performs nonprofessional technical work in functions such as research, development, design, evaluation, construction, inspection, production, application, standardization, test, or operation of engineering facilities, structures, systems, processes, equipment, devices, or materials in support of logistics engineers or logisticians.
  • Solves technical problems in support of logistics engineers or logisticians that require primarily application of a practical knowledge of the methods and techniques by which materials, natural resources, and electrical or mechanical power are made useful.
  • Provides specific technical expertise in engineering or other disciplines, while performing high-level analytical assignments in support of logistics engineers or logisticians.
  • Provides specific technical expertise in engineering or other disciplines, while performing mid-level analytical assignments in support of logistics engineers or logisticians.
  • Provides specific technical expertise in engineering or other disciplines, while performing low-level analytical assignments in support of logistics engineers or logisticians.
  • Supervises less-skilled engineering technicians in the performance of their duties.

 

Job Qualifications:
  • Senior Engineering Technician 7: High School Diploma or GED and not less than 24 years of experience. An AA degree may substitute for 2 years of experience. Completion of a civilian technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology; or completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of course studies in engineering, engineering technology, physics, mathematics, or computer science may also substitute for 2 years of experience. Must have not less than 3 years of supervisory experience. This is an exempt position.
  • Senior Engineering Technician 6: High School Diploma or GED and not less than 21 years of experience. An AA degree may substitute for 2 years of experience. Completion of a civilian technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology; or completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of course studies in engineering, engineering technology, physics, mathematics, or computer science may also substitute for 2 years of experience. This is a non-exempt position.
  • Senior Engineering Technician 5: High School Diploma or GED and not less than 18 years of experience. An AA degree may substitute for 2 years of experience. Completion of a civilian technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology; or completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of course studies in engineering, engineering technology, physics, mathematics, or computer science may also substitute for 2 years of experience. This is a non-exempt position.
  • Engineering Technician 4: High school diploma or GED, not less than 15 years of experience. An AA degree may substitute for 2 years of experience. Completion of a civilian technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology; or completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of course studies in engineering, engineering technology, physics, mathematics, or computer science may also substitute for 2 years of experience. This is a non-exempt position.
  • Engineering Technician 3: High school diploma or GED, not less than 10 years of experience. An AA degree may substitute for 2 years of experience. Completion of a civilian technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology; or completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of course studies in engineering, engineering technology, physics, mathematics, or computer science may also substitute for 2 years of experience. This is a non-exempt position.
  • Engineering Technician 2: High school diploma or GED, not less than 5 years of experience. An AA degree may substitute for 2 years of experience. Completion of a civilian technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology; or completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of course studies in engineering, engineering technology, physics, mathematics, or computer science may also substitute for 2 years of experience. This is a non-exempt position.
  • Engineering Technician 1: High School Diploma or GED and no experience. This is a non-exempt position.
