  Logistics Technician

Functional Responsibilities: (one or more of the following)
  • Performs various tasks related to the development, operation, evaluation, and improvement of weapons systems supportability or maintainability programs and information systems.
  • Works on logistics and maintainability programs and with logistics and maintenance control organizations on issues such as: technical evaluation and identification of support and maintainability programs or plans; life cycle cost analysis control; weapon systems hardware and software standardization and compatibility; Integrated Logistics Support/Reliability & Maintainability (ILS/R&M) program test and evaluation program planning and execution.
  • Collects, compiles, analyzes, investigates, researches, or applies logistics or maintenance data and information. Develops, modifies, prepares, or validates documentation in relation to automated logistics or maintenance data reporting and management information systems.
  • Performs wide range of design development, analysis or reviews tasks under minimal supervision. Acts as lead on tasks that are less complex and is responsible for a portion of a design or section of an analysis or design review. Generates and reviews complete design specifications of more complex projects. Coordinates and works closely with other engineering, logistics, financial and program management disciplines to define project specifications and requirements.
  • Performs design development, analysis and reviews tasks under some supervision. Generates sections of design specifications of more complex projects or completes specifications of less complex projects. Prepares technical presentations and establishes and maintains filing systems and databases for tracking project status or systems information.
  • Supervises, leads, or performs work to physically receive, store, handle, and issue supplies, materials, and equipment. Identifies and classifies materials and equipment based upon their condition. Routes and expedites movement of parts, supplies, and materials in production and repair facilities. Some tasks may involve arduous or hazardous duties.
  • Supervises or performs clerical or technical supply support work necessary to ensure the effective operation of ongoing supply activities.
  • Possesses knowledge of supply operations and program requirements and the ability to apply established supply policies, day-to-day servicing techniques, regulations, or procedures.
  • Supports technical research for projects, including database management and computer support.
  • Provides general research support to projects, as assigned.
  • Performs as a member of project team. Able to follow directions and assist a higher-level technician, logistician, or logistics engineer. Duties may involve collecting information, stocking parts or material, conducting inventories, etc.
  • Performs Logistics functions to include distribution, and transportation.
  • Performs warehouse management duties, as assigned. Tasks may include stocking shelves, retrieving parts or items, shipping parts or items to customers, ordering replacements, inventorying stocks, and entering related information into a computer to keep track of transactions.
  • Supervises less-skilled logistics technicians in the performance of their duties.

 

Job Qualifications:
  • Senior Logistics Technician 6: High School Diploma or GED and not less than 18 years experience in logistics, supply, or related areas of work. BS/BA degree with not less than 8 years such experience. Technical civilian or military school experience directly related to the equipment in task order requirements may substitute for 2 years experience. Must have not less than 3 years of supervisory experience. This is an exempt position.
  • Senior Logistics Technician 5: High School Diploma or GED and not less than 15 years experience in logistics, supply or related areas of work. BS/BA degree with not less than 5 years such experience. Technical civilian or military school experience directly related to the equipment in task order requirements may substitute for 2 years experience. Must have not less than 1 year of supervisory experience. This is an exempt position.
  • Logistics Technician 4: High School Diploma or GED and not less than 12 years experience in logistics, supply, or related areas of work. Technical civilian or military school experience directly related to the equipment in task order requirements may substitute for 2 years experience. This is an exempt position.
  • Logistics Technician 3: High School Diploma or GED and not less than 9 years experience in logistics, supply, or related areas of work. BS/BA degree with not less than 2 years such experience. Technical civilian or military school experience directly related to the equipment in task order requirements may substitute for 2 years experience. This is an exempt position.
  • Logistics Technician 2: High School Diploma or GED and not less than 6 years experience in logistics, supply, or related areas of work or military training in logistics or supply arena and a minimum of two years related experience. Technical civilian or military school experience directly related to the equipment in task order requirements may substitute for 2 years experience. This is an exempt position.
  • Logistics Technician 1: High School Diploma or GED and not less than 3 years experience in logistics, supply, or related areas of work or military training in logistics or supply arena and a minimum of two years related experience. Technical civilian or military school experience directly related to the equipment in task order requirements may substitute for 2 years experience. This is an exempt position.
